You can basically get by with producing nothing but them, since between stunning and teleporting, they are tough to deal with in numbers. Once you research School of Enchantment, he is able to stun at range and becomes incredibly strong. Somewhat uninspired at first, he gets some rather neat abilities as the game goes on. The only unit that is produced rather than summoned, this guy is your bread and butter. They are fairly cheap, but you shouldn't be wasting mana by sacrficing them in battle (unless needed). Use them to scout your surroundings, or to supplement your early battles. However, it has static shield which makes engaging it a dangerous endevor. It isn't very powerful, and drops instantly against any elemental damage (outside of shock). Goes to show, though: game's pretty well balanced.As a Sorcerer, you summon 5 out of your 6 units, more than any other class. If their Mystic had some kind of healing ability, they might well have taken that 'best warlord' prize. You'll zip across the battlefield faster than you can believe.Ĭombine with Grey Guard mastery to compensate for the squishyness and boost gold even further (Tigrans already get 5 gold per city, so all in all you can get +20 gold per city with this combo) and Sun Shields on your phalanxes, and you have a great Warlord. not to mention Pounce on your berserkers and manticores. Sure, their units are squishy, and they don't get any healing, and their support units are not nearly as useful (Warlords want their support units to support, not turn into panthers and pounce) and you probably won't ever build a class unit other than the odd Sphinx for fire damage, but the speed!īarrens Running on all units is great already, but then you hit tactical combat and get athletics on all those already-fast Warlord units. Not just stat-wise, but also appearance-wise with Tibbles' mod, where humans are stuck with the plain boring standard style units. It's a pity that human Berserkers or Manticores just aren't as cool as the Tigran or Orc versions. And human Knights are nothing to sniff at either, with Warlord upgrades.

Human Priests in particular are the perfect complement to Warlords: spirit damage, healing, buffing, and they get daze on gold medal. Races with healing do have a much easier start, which then translates to a strong mid and late game.
